As Dev Evangelist Josh Birk highlighted earlier, LinkedIn and the White House are commemorating Veterans Day by sponsoring their first Veterans Hackday. This year, the holiday happens to land on that curious date of ‘11/11/11’. (Lucky kids getting this birthday!)

The contest begins Friday and ends Sunday (11/13). The aim is to encourage developers to create projects to benefit those who have risked their lives to serve our nation. Josh pointed out the terrific prizes offered, and so we thought, “Hmmm… how can we encourage folks to participate?”

So, we have an offer — submit an entry to this contest using Force.com, show us your app/project by emailing info@developerforce.com, and we’ll send you a limited edition Force.com “i code” hoodie (pictured below) while supplies last.*

We encourage you to follow @LinkedInEng for updates on this contest. (And of course, follow @forcedotcom if you haven’t done so already). There’s also a LinkedIn Veterans Day Hackday Group with lots of great resources for this initiative.

Happy Hacking (for a great cause)!
