Bar Code and QR Code scanning using the Mobile SDK

I recently blogged about a sample mobile application built using a combination of Visualforce and other standard web technologies like HTML5, CSS3 and JavaScript (specifically JQuery Mobile). The application mobilizes the ‘Merchandise’ Custom Object by presenting a mobile optimized List and Detail View of data stored in that Object. I also demoed and dissected this application in some detail in the Mobile SDK webinar that Eugene and I recorded recently. In addition to discussing web mobile apps, i.e. applications delivered entirely via the browser on the mobile device, we also covered hybrid mobile applications developed using the Salesforce Mobile SDK. Hybrid apps fall… Continue reading

Share Your Eco-Friendly Apps with the World

Green AppsGreen Apps

Earth Day was this past weekend and we don’t want the eco-love to stop!   In honor of #EarthMonth, we’d like to showcase the good work our developer community is doing to celebrate our planet. Your applications are already having a significant positive impact on carbon consumption because they are running in the cloud rather than on-premises. The carbon we’ve kept out of the air is the equivalent of taking 98,000 cars… Continue reading

“SMS-to-Lead?”, you ask? Well, as you probably know, Web-to-Lead is a core feature of the Force.com platform, allowing you to create Lead records directly from a form on your website, a cornerstone of CRM functionality. In a recent blog post, Sandeep combined Facebook, Heroku and Force.com to create Social Web-to-Lead. That, together with Twilio’s release of their library for Salesforce, got me thinking about SMS-to-Lead.

The base concept… Continue reading
